PRESS RELEASES
ZANESVILLE, Ohio—Heroes Landing™ Children’s Justice Center (CJC) announced today that they received $24,990 in funding from United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties. Heroes Landing™ will use these funds to purchase and install forensic interview recording equipment.
CJCs are child-focused facilities that coordinate the investigation and treatment of child sexual abuse. At a CJC, a child tells their story once to a trained interviewer so they don’t have to recount their trauma again. Based on the interview, a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), including medical and mental health specialists, decides how to best help the child.
Through the support of United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties, Heroes Landing™ will have all-new recording equipment allowing their MDT to preserve a child’s story and collect evidence for courtroom use.
“We’re honored to receive this generous community support,” said Evonne Saunders, executive director of Heroes Landing™. “We’re grateful that the United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties is helping us deliver quality access to medical and mental health services.”
Heroes™ Landing is a member of the Ohio Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers and is working toward national accreditation. For more information, visit heroeslandingcjc.org or email info@heroeslandingcjc.org.
