December 20, 2021
PRESS RELEASES
ZANESVILLE, Ohio—Heroes Landing™ Children’s Justice Center has received over $600,000 in funding this year from more than a dozen companies, charities and groups. These funds and future contributions to Heroes Landing™ will support ongoing program development, upcoming building renovations, forensic interview recording equipment and multiple care services for child abuse survivors in Muskingum County.
Notable contributors to Heroes Landing™ in 2021 include: American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Can Roe and Co Boutique, Fazoli’s Restaurant, Fellers Foundation, J.W. and M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation, Knights of Columbus, Longaberger Family Quality of Life Fund, Malouf Companies™, Muskingum County Community Foundation (MCCF) and United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties. In addition to the funds received from each group, Heroes Landing™ was able to raise more than $28,000 at their annual charity golf tournament in September.
Evonne Saunders, executive director of Heroes Landing™, shared, “Reflecting on this closing year, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the community’s incredible support. As the first justice center of its kind in Muskingum County, launching Heroes Landing™ in 2021 was a remarkable milestone that couldn’t have been reached without everyone’s help.”
Heroes Landing™ expects to serve more than 100 child abuse survivors in the Muskingum County area next year. On average, each survivor needs $930 to cover the cost of their counseling session, medical exam and personal items—including snacks, hygiene kits, clothing and a comfort item. Donations made to Heroes Landing™ help cover the variety of services offered at Heroes Landing™. Anyone interested in making a contribution can visit heroeslandingcjc.org/donate.
