ARPA: $2.3M Genesis Employee Retention Program, Water Projects Among Local COVID-19 Relief Grants

ARPA is also helping fund Heroes Landing with a $500,000 grant. It is a foundation dedicated advocating for children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse.

Heroes Landing recently established a location in the county to be moved into in the next month. About 40% of the grant will go toward furnishings, fixtures and justice center equipment, with the rest used annually for operational expenses, to pay specialists and other programming support.

The center allows abuse survivors to undergo forensic interviews with recordings, so they do not have to testify in court. Before they were being sent to other counties for those services, "so there were many hurdles to that," said Evonne Saunders, the advocacy center's executive director.
